Idli (another one)

Yet another simple Idle recipe

You will get soft, round and pluffy idlis with this recipe

Ingredients vegetarian 10 servings

  • 3 cups Rice (basmati), or any long grain
  • ½ cup Rice (parboiled)
  • ¾ cup Black gram (split)
  • Salt to taste


  1. Soak the dal in water and soak the two rices together in water for about 5 hours.
  2. Grind Dal first nicely and take it in a container. Now grind the soaked rices into a thick flour and add to the dal flour.
  3. Mix throughly with hand and add salt to your taste.
  4. Keep it inside the oven for about 8 hours.
  5. Spread oil in the idli plates and pour the fermented batter into the plate. Steam it for 5 to 7 min.
  6. Serve hot with sambar or coconut chutney.



can you tell me if the oven should be preheated and turned off oven or in the turned off oven.
