Small Tender Bittergourd (Midhi Pavakai) Curry

small or young tender immature bittergourds are not much bitter.(haagalakay,kaakarakaaya).They will be less than 1 inch.Don't choose yellow ones.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1/2 kg bittergourd
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1/4 asefotida powder
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • Salt,to taste

    Directions

    1. Wash and wipe small tender bitter gourd. Cut into 2 halves.
    2. Don't throw away seeds.
    3. Seeds gives more taste for this type of bitter gourd.
    4. Rub them with 1/4 tsp salt.
    5. Take a pan and heat oil and add mustard seeds.
    6. After it crackles, add the bitter-gourd, turmeric powder, asefotida powder and red chilli powder.
    7. Saute in between.It will be cooked in 5 minutes.It shrinks in quantity.
    8. Add little salt.Take care that you had already added some salt to it.
    9. Pavakai curry is ready.
