Poha Cutlets

crisp- perfect tea time snack

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup Poha
    • 1/2 cup Yellow Moong Dal
    • 1 tsp green chillies, finely chopped
    • 1 inch ginger, either grated or finely chopped
    • salt to taste
    • 1/2 tsp jeera
    • 1 tsp red chilly powder ( or to taste)
    • green corriander leaves  - few twigs
    • 2-3 tsp courflour
    • refined oil for frying

    Directions

    1. Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for about 2 hours.
    2. wash the poha well and keep it aside for about 15-20 mins.
    3. mix the pre soaked dal and poha and coarsely grind it. avoid adding water until really required. it should be of the consistency that cutlets can be formed directly with them.
    4. now add chopped green chillies, ginger, jeera, red chilly powder and green coriander to the mixture. 
    5. Add salt to taste.
    6. make small sized cutlets from the mixture. do not make big ones else they will not cook from inside as it will become crisp and brown very soon on medium heat.
    7. warm the oil and deep fry the cutlets.
    8. by any chance if they start losing shape, then roll the cutlet in cornflour and then deep fry.

    Serve piping hot with tomato ketchup or green chutney.
