Masala Potato Fries

Sliced potato deep-fried with spices

Recipe by christy gerald of Dubai, AE

Happen to hear a recipe today (this sort of but v.much different) and thought of submitting this recipe which I tried few years back. Here is that recipe for u - a mouthwatering as well as an eyecatching recipe to try at home.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 2 potatoes- sliced thin (like u do for french fries), put in boiling water for 2 mins(only) , taken out and wiped dry (touched with tissues)
    • 2 tsp chilli powder
    • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper powder
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste(optional)
    • 2 tsp besan flour(kadalai mavu)
    • 1/2 tsp corn flour
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 1 tsp chat powder (or) mutton masala powder
    • 1/2 tsp powdered maze(optional)
    • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
    • few curry leaves
    • few coriander leaves
    • 1 cup refined oil

    Directions

    1. Take a bowl, mix all the ingredients well except the coriander leaves and refined oil.Leave it for 10 mins at least.
    2. Heat  the refined oil in a kadai and fry the marinated potato slices till crisp at the same time the white sesame seeds should not turn colour - stirring continuously.Take this out.
    3. Garnish with coriander leaves.
    4. Serve this with garlic sauce(see Sneha's recipe for this) or with tomato ketchup or with yoghurt(salt added).

Hi Sarah,I'm happy to hear this from u.Thank u so much for ur feedback. Moreover,u can reduce the chilli powder by 1/2 a tsp and add 1/2 a tsp cornflour more in the ingredients for better Masala French Fries.Happy Cooking!.
