If u have small potatoes,please cook them in 1 whistle and add to the gravy.u can add red chilli powder.i forgot to put while making this recipe but it tasted well.
Ingredients
vegetarian 2 servings
4 medium sized Potatoes
2 tbsp tomato puree
10 cashew nuts
2 Onion(sliced lengthwise)
2 tomato
1 inch ginger chopped
4-5 garlic chopped
2 green chilli chopped
2 cloves
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon
1 cardamom
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp butter
2 tbsp cream or can use milk.
water as needed
Oil for fying
Coriander for garnishing
Salt,to taste
Directions
Peel the skin of the potatoes and cut into 4 equal sizes and slightly prick with fork.
In a pan heat the oil and deep fry potatoes to golden brown.
In another pan,add 1/2 tsp oil add sliced onion,cashewnuts, ginger ,garlic, green chilli. Saute till onion becomes transparent.Then add tomato.
Saute till it becomes glassy.
Allow it to cool for sometime.
Then grind them to smooth paste by adding little water.
Heat butter in a pan and add cloves,tejpatha,cinnamon,cardamom,garam masala and saute for a minute and then add tomato puree,grounded paste and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Add fried potatoes ,cream and salt and cook for another 5 minutes.
Garnish with cilantro. Dum Aloo is ready.Serve hot.
Goes well with kachori, roti , rice,jowar roti etc.
