Meatballs Manchurian

Manchurian prepared using meatballs

If u want a semi-dry or gravy using Meatballs,this Chinese preparation gives a different taste to try this on special occasions.U can even try this recipe using ready made meatballs for unexpected guests.

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    • 150 g minced mutton
    • 2 onions - chopped fine
    • 1 cm ginger-grated
    • 2 garlic cloves-grated
    • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • 2 green chillies-chopped fine
    • 2 tsp grated capsicum
    • 1/2 tsp jeera -powdered
    • 3/4 tsp saunf -powdered
    • 2 tsp poppy seeds -powdered
    • 3 tbsp split besan dal(pottukadalai)-powdered
    • 1 tsp garam masala or curry masala powder
    • 250ml or 1 cup chicken stock or plain chicken soup
    • 1/2 tsp sugar
    • 1tsp maida flour
    • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp corn flour
    • 1 tsp fresh pepper powder
    • 1 tbsp soya sauce
    • 1/2 tsp ajinomotto
    • 1 tbsp Spring onions
    • 1 tbsp coriander leaves-chopped
    • 1 1/4 tsp + 1 tsp salt
    • 2 tsp + 3 tbsp refined oil

    Directions

    1. Paste 1 tbsp cornflour powder in 2 tbsp water and mix this in to a thick paste.
    2. Take a bowl,add minced mutton,chopped onions-2 tbsp, powdered jeera,powdered saunf,white pepper powder,powdered poppy seeds,garam masala or curry masala powder,powdered split besandal,ginger-garlic paste,1 tsp maida and 1 tsp salt.Mix this well without adding water.Shape this into round balls.
    3. Heat 3 tbsp oil in frying pan(or use kuzhipaniyaram mould adding little oil to each hole),dip this meat balls in corn flour paste and shallowfry the meatballs till golden brown on bothsides.
    4. Heat 2 tsp oil in a kadai,add the following ingredients one by one stirring continuously: chopped onions, grated ginger, grated garlic,chopped  chillies,grated capsicum, soya sauce, ajinomotto,1 1/4 tsp salt,sugar, spring onions, coriander leaves then chicken stock or soup.
    5. When done, add 1 tsp cornflour paste to the gravy and allow this to thicken a little and then add the fried meat balls to the gravy and let it cook for 10 mins at least(stirring continuously).
    Note:U can try minced mutton mixed with grated paneer and the spices mentioned above and fried till golden brown before added to the gravy
