Make a thick batter or wait 20-30 mins for the batter to thicken and also cut the onions with 1 cm width to get nice looking onion rings.

Non-Vegetarians can try this recipe with Prawns(cleaned and de-veined) also. Those who don't like the smell of powdered cumin much, can try this recipe with a pinch of finely-powdered fennel seeds and 1/4 tsp garam masala being added to the mixed flour batter. The garam masala smell goes well with Onion rings-when deep-fried in oil.
