Chana masala 2

This is my mums fav tea time snack you can have it as a side dish with pories or roties as well.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1/4 cup oil
    • 1 large onion finely chopped
    • 1 tsp ginger/garlic paste
    • 3-4 slit green chilli
    • 1 tsp chili powder
    • 1/2 turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp cumin powder
    • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
    • 1 can chopped tomatoes
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar
    • 2 can drained chick peas.
    • 2 cucumbers chopped into small cubes
    • 1/2 tsp chat masala.

    Directions

    1. In a wok heat oil.
    2. Add Onions and ginger/garlic paste and fry for 2 min
    3. Add green chilli and all the spices and fry for another 2 min.
    4. Add chopped tomato can and fry for 2 min  then add chick pea and lemon juice, simmer for 5 min over low heat.
    5. Add the cucumber and simmer for further 2 min( the cucmber must remain crisp) not soggy).
    6. Sprinkle with chat masala and then bring out in a serving dish.
    7. Serve with hot pories, roties or as a tea time snack.
    * the end result should have some gravy not a dry texture.
