Beany Rice

Rice with beans

Wholesome meal that provides good amount of protein for vegetarians.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 cup Rice (basmati), soaked
  • 1 cup Kidney Beans, soaked
  • 1 no. Onion, chopped
  • 2 nos. Green Chilies
  • 1 piece Cinnamon
  • 2 nos. Cardamom
  • 2 nos. Cloves
  • ½ cup Coconut Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • Vegetable Oil for frying


  1. Heat oil, add finely chopped onions, green chillies, and whole spices.
  2. Fry till onions turn translucent.
  3. Add rice and red kidney beans (rajma), fry for two minutes.
  4. Now add coconut milk, salt, and pepper. Cook till rice is done.
  5. Serve with yoghurt or any raita.
