Jhinga ka dopyazah

Very quick & easy main dish enjoyed by Prawn lovers.

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1/4 cup oil
    • 1/2 kg cleaned sweet water Jumbo prawns.
    • 2 medium blended onions (paste).
    • 1 tsp ginger & garlic paste.
    • 1 tsp red chili powder
    • 1/2 haldi
    • 1/4 coriander powder
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/4 cup whipped yoghurt
    • 1/4 cup chopped coriander
    • 7-10 slit green chili

    Directions

    1. In a Karhai heat the oil & fry the prawns till they change colour &  a nice aroma spreads in the house.
    2. Add Onion paste, ginger, garlic, & all the spices toss & turn for 3 min.
    3. Pour water & bring to the boil. Lower the heat a little & cook.
    4.  Add yoghurt making sure it doesn't get curdled.
    5. Allow oil to float on top of the gravy.
    6. Sprinkle with chopped coriander & green chili & toss to combine all.
    7. Remove from heat & serve hot with rice.

    You can use "COCONUT MILK" instead of curd and it goes really well with Shrimp/Prawns.

    Hi Sarah I wish you all the luck and Yes it is true curd and Prawns are not the best combination like it is with chicken or mutton yet it tastes nice as this is how my wife makes it and we all enjoy it. You can take out the curd if you like. My wife says the curd only increases the gravy and gives a different tastes so it is really up to you. So happy cooking.

    DEar , Khuserv ,, my mom is telling me that there is no COMBINATION of CURD with PRAWNS.. :( like it is for egg with chicken or mutton.. so can we add anything else instead of curd ??

    Hi Sarah if you try it with salt water prawns you have to cook the masala before (stir fry for 10 - 15 minutes at least.then add the prawns and give it a quick cook and add the coriander and chilli at the end. If you cook the slat water prawns for long they become rubbery.

    could we use SALT WATER > prawns instead ???? pleeaaasssseeee .. i have salt water prawnz aal the time in my freezer :)

    This recipe seems nice & I love Prawns esp this size will make my mouth water any time but I think u mean 1/2 tsp haldi & 1/2 tsp coriander powder???
