Gohr wali chawal

This is a Punjabi sweet rice and they make it the best.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 3 tbsp ghee
    • 1 cup rice
    • 1 cup gohr 
    • few cardamoms
    • 7-8 slivered almonds
    • 1/4 tsp saunf
    • 1/4 cup raisins 
    • 3/4 cup water
    • Nuts & sliver paper for decoration.

    Directions

    1. Wash and boil rice till just done then drain.
    2. Prepare a syrup with water & Gohr.
    3. In another pot heat ghee and braise cardamoms,almonds, raisins and saunf.
    4. Add the syrup then the rice toss all well so the rice gets coated nicely.
    5. Allow to cook very slowly until all the moisture evaporates and rice is left shiny.
    6. Close the pot with a tight lid & cook for 10-15 min in (dum) over low flame like u would do 4 Zarda.
    7. Remove from heat, decorate with nuts & silver paper  and serve warm with a little fresh cream on the side.

    Hi Sonali & Kamini Gohr as gur =gud= gura=gor same meaning = Jaggery it is just how hw I say it sorry for te confusion.
