Oats Khichdi

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup Oats
    • 1 cup Rice (washed and drained)
    • 1 cup Masoor Dal (Split Red Lentils Washed and Drained)
    • 1Onion Chopped
    • 2 inches Cinnamon Stick
    • 4 Cloves
    • 3 cardomons
    • 2 Bay Leaves
    • 1 Potato cut in small cubes
    • 10-12 French Beans cut in small pieces
    • 1/2 cup Green Peas
    • 2 Green Chillies Chopped
    • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
    • 4-5 Garlic crushed
    • small piece of grated ginger
    • 1 Tbsp Ghee
    • Salt to taste

     

    Directions

    1. Crush the Cinnamon,cloves and cardomons lightly

    2. .Heat Ghee in a vessel and fry the onions.Add the crushed spices and bay leaves and fry for few seconds

    3. Add Rice,Masoor Dal,Potatoes,French Beans,Green Peas,Green Chillies,Turmeric powder,Garlic and Ginger.

    4. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

    5. Add 5 1/2 cup of hot water and salt.Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables and rice are half cooked.

    6. Add Oats,mix well and fully cook the vegetables and rice.

    7. Serve hot
