Matar kheer

green peas sweet

It's a very unusal dish becoz mostly people use it in vegetables but we make it always and it tastes great.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 cup Matar (green peas )
    • 1 tsp green elaichi
    • 1/2 cup Ghee
    • 20-25 pistachios
    • 20-25 raisins
    • 1 cup Sugar
    • 1 1/2 litre milk.


    1. Boil green peas for 5 mins and put them in cold water and let then cool down
    2. Grind them to fine paste in mixie. Soak raisins in water. Put the the pistas in boiling water for 1 minute and remove the skin.
    3. Heat ghee in thick bottomed vessel, put the matar paste and stir continuously for few minutes until the water is evaporated, keep aside.
    4. Boil milk and add matar paste and bring to boil. Boil for 10-15 minutes and reduce the milk to half.
    5. Add kismish, elaichi powder and cut pista.
    6. Stir continously and cook for 8-10 mins.
    7. Let it cool and garnish with pista.
    8. Serve cool.
