Patodi Curry

Its a typical maharashtrian 'Bhaji'.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    For Patodi
    •  cup Besan(Gram flour)
    • ½ tsp turmeric
    • 1 tsp green chilly paste
    • chopped coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • pinch of muster seeds
    • pinch of cumin seeds
    • 2 tsp oil
    • salt to taste

    For Curry

    • 3 tsp peanuts
    • 1 tsp puppy seeds
    • 2 tsp dried coconut
    • 2-3 bay leaves
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1 tsp coriander seeds
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
    • 1-2 cloves
    • 4-5 tsp oil
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 2 tsp red chilly powder
    • ginger-garlic paste 1tsp
    • salt to taste


    1. Heat a container with 1 tsp oil, then add cumin & muster   seeds, after spluttering add ginger-garlic paste in it.    
    2. Now add turmeric, chilly paste, salt & then add 3 cup water & let it boil.once it boiled add chopped coriander & then slowly add besan, keep mixing & let it cook for 5-7 min.
    3. Remove it from fire & spread it immediately on a greased  floured base or any flat pan. spread it much thinner with help of oily palm & allow to cool for 10-15 min.
    4. Now with a help of knife make a rectangle shaped wadi of it.(These are the Patodi)
    5. Roast the peanuts,coconut,poppy seeds,cumin seeds,bay leaves,cloves,black papper , coriander seeds. grind them & make a fine paste of it.(to make paste more fine add little amount of water in it & grind again)
    6. Heat a pan , add oil in it then add ginger-garlic paste & then add ground paste in a first instance this paste absorb entire oil in a pan,keep mixing it.
    7. After 3-4 min, this paste leave the oil ,now add turmeric, chilly powder & salt in it 7 mix it well with paste.
    8. Finally add water in it to make a curry & let it cook for 2-3min.remove  the curry from fire , add patodi in it. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
    9. Serve it with chapati or rice.

    hi rohini,requires 1 cup besan to serve for 2 peoples.


    could u please specify the quantity for besan.
